Privacy & Data Handling
Last updated: January 2025
Privacy is a product feature, not a legal checkbox.
1. Overview
This Privacy & Data Handling Policy applies to the Server Pulse AI product ("Server Pulse AI", "we", "us", or "our"), operated and published by Ubon Patrusm, an individual.
This policy explains how Server Pulse AI collects, uses, stores, and protects data in a transparent and minimal manner. By using Server Pulse AI, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Key principle: Server Pulse AI treats privacy as a product feature, not a legal checkbox. We combine local-first design, selective AI usage, and radical transparency to earn your trust.
2. Privacy Principles
These principles guide how Server Pulse AI handles your data:
- Local-first by default – Your logs stay on your server unless you opt in
- Selective transmission – Only error-relevant context is shared
- Ephemeral processing – AI analysis data is not retained unnecessarily
- User control – You decide when and what gets analyzed
- Transparency – No hidden data collection
These principles are reflected in our UI, documentation, and onboarding process. We believe in giving you full control over your data while still providing powerful AI analysis.
3. Data Categories
Server Pulse AI categorizes data based on how it's handled. Understanding these categories helps you make informed decisions about what data you're comfortable sharing.
3.1 Always Local (Never Transmitted)
The following data categories are never transmitted to Server Pulse AI servers and remain entirely on your local system:
- Full application logs
- Request payloads
- Environment variables
- Secrets, tokens, and credentials
- Personally identifiable end-user data (PII)
This data never leaves your local environment, ensuring maximum privacy and security for sensitive information.
3.2 Conditionally Shared (Opt-in / Plan-based)
The following data may be shared with Server Pulse AI only if you explicitly opt in or based on your subscription plan:
- Error stack traces (sanitized)
- Framework metadata (e.g., Django, Node, version info)
- Error classification signals
- Limited surrounding log context (configurable window)
You have full control over whether this data is shared. Cloud AI analysis is opt-in, and you can configure what context is included.
3.3 Platform Metadata
The following metadata is collected for account and service management:
- Account email address
- Subscription tier
- Usage counters (analysis count only)
- Timestamps of analysis events
This metadata is necessary for providing the service and is used only for account management, billing, and service improvement.
4. AI Analysis Flow
When an error occurs on your system, Server Pulse AI follows this process:
- Error detection – Server Pulse AI detects the error on your local system
- Local evaluation – Server Pulse AI evaluates confidence threshold locally
- Analysis decision – If threshold is met:
- Local analysis (no data transmission), OR
- Cloud AI analysis (only if enabled by you)
- Context sanitization – Context is sanitized and reduced before transmission
- AI processing – AI produces reasoning and fix suggestions
- Context disposal – Context is discarded after response
Important: No full logs are permanently stored. The context used for AI analysis is ephemeral and discarded after generating a response.
5. Retention Policy
Server Pulse AI follows strict data retention policies to minimize data storage:
| Data Type | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| AI input context | Ephemeral (minutes) |
| AI output (analysis results) | Stored for user reference (user can delete anytime) |
| Usage metrics | Aggregated only |
| Billing records | As required by law |
Users may delete AI outputs at any time through the Server Pulse AI dashboard. Deletion is permanent and immediate.
6. Compliance & Security
Server Pulse AI is committed to protecting your data through industry-standard security practices:
- TLS encryption in transit – All data transmitted to Server Pulse AI is encrypted using TLS
- Encrypted storage – Retained data is encrypted at rest
- Role-based access – Internal access is restricted based on role and necessity
- No third-party data resale – We do not sell or share your data with third parties
- GDPR-ready deletion paths – You can request data deletion at any time
We regularly audit our security practices and update them as needed to maintain the highest standards of data protection.
7. Refund Policy
